“Wage Hour Law In the Modern Workplace: Which Workers are Covered; Exempt/Non-exempt Status and the New Regulations Effective 12/1/16"
Betty Stanton and Janica Pierce Tucker of Taft/ Law will discuss new regulations that will increase the salary requirement to be a white-collar exempt employee significantly, impacting most employers. The new regulations go into effect on December 1, 2016. If an employee is not an exempt employee, they must be paid time and ½ for all hours worked over 40 in the workweek.
The standard salary level to be an exempt employee will change from $455 a week/$23,660 a year to $913 a week/$47,476 a year. The salary level for Highly Compensated Employees will change from $100,000 a year to $134,000 a year.
