Event Description:

Bill Hermann, CPA, partner at Plante Moran, and co-author of Succession Transition - A Roadmap for Seamless Transitions in Leadership, will provide family business leaders with options to consider when they do not have a readily apparent successor to take on the role of company leader in their family business. Hermann's program will outline a variety of options that include: grooming non-family leaders, preparing to sell the business, and employee ownership. He'll also discuss preparing future leaders by creating a positive organizational culture and open lines of communication, preparing employees and managers for transition, and using goal setting and measurement tools. In addition, family business leaders who have overcome these hurdles will share their experiences and answer your questions about how they conquered their succession challenges.

Bill Hermann joined Plante Moran in 1971, served as Managing Partner from 2001-2009, and now leads the firm's International Team, a consolidated practice staffed by more than 100 international specialists. As managing partner, he facilitated and supervised three mergers. Under his leadership, Plante Moran tripled its revenue and doubled the number of its staff. Hermann has gained national recognition from Accounting Today, Inside Public Accounting, and CPA Magazine.

Plante Moran is among the nation's largest certified public accounting and business advisory firms, providing clients with tax, audit, risk management, financial, technology, business consulting, and wealth management services. Plante Moran has a staff of more than 2,000 professionals in 21 offices throughout Ohio (Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Toledo); Michigan; and Illinois, with international offices in Shanghai, China; Monterrey, Mexico; and Mumbai, India.
